Black Dog Military Antiques began in the summer of 2020 as one of my “retirement jobs” - a way to stay connected to the history I love after more than 20 years in uniform and the start of a second career in government service. What started as a small side project may eventually grow into a full‑time endeavor once I retire again.
The shop grew out of years of collecting WWI and WWII militaria, a basement full of artifacts, and a desire to help friends build their own collections while supporting new research and acquisitions for The NGP History Project.
If you enjoy what we do, be sure to follow along on Facebook, Instagram & TikTok. That’s where you’ll see new items first - long before they hit ebay, or even this website.
Black Dog Military Antiques was named in honor of Rosie - the original black dog and the heart behind our brand. Rosie was a proud veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, serving 12 years at a busy SAR station on the Chesapeake Bay. Over the course of her career, she rose through the ranks to Chief Dog before preceding me into retirement and beginning her new civilian life in Pennsylvania.
Never one to sit still for long (except for naps, treats, and the occasional gardening break), Rosie quickly found her next calling. She became the official mascot of Black Dog Military Antiques, and her silhouette became our logo - a reminder of loyalty, service, and the joy she brought to everyone around her.
Rosie enjoyed nearly four years of well‑earned retirement before losing her fight with cancer in 2021. Her legacy lives on in the name of this company and in the spirit of everything we do.
